Former Jewell Resident Dead.

The people of Jewell and vicinity who were acquainted with the John Voss family, former residents of Jewell, and who for several years pas have lived at Goltry, Okla., are shocked to learn of the recent death of Mr. Voss. Friends here join the Record in extending sincere sympathy to the bereaved ones in their sorrow.

The following is taken from Goltry News relative to death: Elizabeth Marie Voss was born in Mecklenberg, Germany, June 29, 1842, and died Sept. 4, 1909; aged 67 yrs., 2 mo. and 5 days.

Elizabeth Saltwell came to America in 1870 and was married to John Voss March 7, 1873. To tis union were born seven children, five of whom still survive. At an early age she became a Christian and united with the Lutheran church and later united with the Presbyterian church of which she has since been a member. Her consistent Christian life has been an example to all who know her.

She was unable to overcome her last illness of almost two years. She leaves a husband and five children and one brother to mourn her loss.

There is no death!
What seems so is transition;
This life of mortal breath
is but a suburb of thee life elysian,
whose portal we call Death.

In that great cloisters stillness and seclusion,
By Guardian Angels led,
Safe from temptation,
Safe from pollution,
She lives whom we call dead.

Funeral services were conducted by Gisselbrecht at the Congregational church, Monday forenoon September 6th. She was laid to rest in the Karoma cemetery.
