OBITUARY.

Mrs. Anna Knutson was born in Norway on the 19th day of February, 1821, having reached the ripe age of 84 years, 4 months and 1 day at the time of her death, which occurred Tuesday of last week. With her husband she came to Lisbon, Ill., in 1862, where they resided two years, then coming to Iowa. They were among the earliest settlers in Iowa, driving across country in a covered wagon and settling near Roland. Shortly after they bought a farm three miles north of Story City where they lived until eight years ago, when they moved to Jewell. Her husband died the first year after they moved.

Their marriage was blessed with eight children, five boys and three girls, of which one boy died in Norway at an early age. Mrs. Knutson was at the time of her death not only a mother, but a grandmother and a great grandmother, leaving thirty-two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Of her one who knew her well said: "Mrs. Knutson as a devoted Christian, bein a member of the Lutheran church and at the age of 16 years came to the belief that there was no other safe way to reach heaven than to live the life of Christ and Him crucified and she has thus moved to live among the blessed, which she so much longed for."

Among those from out of town in attendance at the funeral of Mrs. Anna Knutson last Saturday were her son, John Knutson, of Heron Lake, Minn., and his son, Rev. T. J. Knutson, of Grafton, N. D.; Andrew Herem, of Roland, an old time friend of the deceased; O. J. Charlson, Paul Holland, Mrs. Tarvestad, Ole Brandjord and O. J. Charlson, all of Stoey City.
