OBITUARY

G. G. WALLEN [sic]

G. G. Wallen [sic], a long-time resident of Randall and vicinity, died at Randall, and was buried from the Elim Lutheran church Sept. 26, 1938, Rev. G. O. Paulsrud officiating. A quartet, S. M. Teigland, J. H. Brekken, Mrs. P. G. Pederson and Mrs. C. Larson, sang in the church. He was laid to rest in the Randall cemetery beside his wife, who died Jan. 30, 1916. The pallbearers were B. Grimsley, B. A. Anderson, Iver Thompson, R. G. Frette, P. K. Okland and S. M. Teigland.

Mr. Wallen [sic] was born at Valestrand, Nerway, July 14, 1854. As a young man he was sailing the great seas and saw most of the great countries on earth. In 1880 he came to America and nine years later he became a citizen of the United States.

In this country he was engaged in farming until he moved to Randall about 27 years ago. Of these 27 years he spent six years as supervisor of the Lutheran childrens home at Beresford, S. D.

June 11, 1886, he was united in marriage to Martha Westre in the St. Paul church, west of Randall, Rev. Baard Mikkelson officiating. The Wallens had no children, but they reared four children, Selma and Anna Lear, Clara Travase and Adeline Wallen.
