Alice Spitler, 84, of Webster City died Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Van Diest Medical Center. A Celebration of Life will be held at a late date. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with serving the family.
Alice Mae Balch, daughter of Benjamin and LaMoine (Wolters) Balch, was born July 6, 1938 on a farm near Fonda. She attended school in Fonda and Fort Dodge. On September 6, 1959 Alice was united in marriage to Richard Avery Spitler in Fort Dodge. She worked for 37 years at Electrolux in Webster City, retiring when the plant closed. She loved to talk to anyone she met, she collected salt and pepper shakers, and Alice took her 1950 pontiac car to many car shows over the years.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Richard; daughter-in-law, Linda Spitler of Webster City; grandchildren, David Schossow, Jeremiah Spitler, Andy Sowle, Jon Schossow, Heather Spitler, Devan Shutt; several great grandchildren and brother, Jerry Balch of Estherville.
Alice was preceded in death by her son, Terry Spitler; her parents, Ben and LaMoine Balch; grandsons, Joshua Spitler, James Spitler; brothers, Leon Balch, Earl Balch, Benjamin Balch and sisters, Anna Beattle and Arlene “Sue” Lewis.
