April 6, 2023Kevin Oberender, 63, of Kamrar died Tuesday, April 4, 2023 following a tragic accident on his farm. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.
Kevin Gene Oberender, son of Lyle and Rosella (Meyerann) Oberender, was born August 11, 1959 in Hampton. He graduated from South Hamilton schools in 1978 and Iowa State University. On June 27, 1981, Kevin was united in marriage to Paula Hendrickson in Jewell. To this union three sons were born, Scott, Jared, and Christopher. The couple later divorced. Kevin worked for many years at Electrolux and was a researcher for Land O’ Lakes. Currently he was employed with Feed Liner trucking. Kevin loved to farm, and also raise horses and cattle.
He is survived by his sons, Scott (Kristie) Oberender of Jewell, Jared (Tonya) Oberender of Roland, Christopher (Shanda) Oberender of Dubuque; grandchildren, Deven, Dakota, Daytan, Dallace, Dawson, Dannie-Lynn, Jordin, Haile, Jaxson, Owen, Luka, Colten, Kane; great-grandchildren, Haiden, Harper, Hailey; father, Lyle Oberender of Webster City; sisters, Joyce (Keith) Peters of Hampton, Janet (Rich) Tribolet of Story City; brothers, Jim (Gloria) Oberender of Story City, Steve Oberender of Buckeye, Neil Oberender of Durand, WI and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Kevin was preceded in death by his mother, Rosella and brother, Jerry Oberender.
He was a past member of the Community Church of Kamrar and volunteer firefighter for Jewell Fire Department for 20 years. Kevin was active in the Hamilton County Saddle Club and Pony Express. He enjoyed bowling, and time spent with family especially his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the Hamilton County Pony Express for Camp Sunnyside.
