Funeral Services for Aged Woman Will Be Held Tuesday
Mrs. Emogene Brewer, 84, died Sunday morning about 7 o'clock at 539 Division street. She had been in failing health for the past two years and had been seriously ill since December.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the McCauley-Chapman funeral home with the Rev. Dow Crewdson officiating. Burial will be made in Cass Center cemetery.
Emogene Broughton was born at Mt. Pulaski, Ill., March 27, 1858. She grew to young womanhood there and in 1876 she married to Albert Brewer at Lincoln, Ill.
About 50 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Brewer moved to Webster City where he was in the lumber business until his health failed.
Mrs. Brewer was a life-long member of the Christian church, a member of the 900 club. While her health permitted she was always active in the church work. She was also an active member of Rebekah lodge.
Since her last sickness, about a year ago, she had to leave her home on Elm street where she had lived so many years. She greatly missed her neighbors and friends there.
Mrs. Brewer is survived by two sons, Don of Mason City, and Glenn of Des Moines. She leaves three grandsons, one granddaughter, and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband who died 44 years ago and by a son, Kirk, who died in 1928.
