March 9, 2023Word has been received of the passing of Patricia Ann Hoover-Walker, 93, a long time Webster City resident, on February 16th, 2023, at Creekside Senior Living in Grundy Center, Iowa.
Patricia Ann McCollough was born on May 4th, 1929, in Webster City, IA, the daughter of Merrill Luther (M.L.) and Carrie Ann (Jones) McCollough.
Patricia (Patsy) grew up between Webster City, IA and Albuquerque, New Mexico where the family lived due to her father’s diagnosis of tuberculosis necessitating a dry, warm environment. She graduated from Lincoln High School, Webster City, in 1947 and then completed one year of secretarial training at the Junior College in Webster City and eventually attended Iowa State University as an adult student majoring in Art.
Patsy married Darrell Wynne Hoover in 1948 and enjoyed many years together until his death in 1995. As an adventure they moved their young family to Hawaii for several years and brought back many great memories and stories to share. Eventually they moved back, to pursue grain and livestock farming, south of Webster City.
Patsy went on to marry Alvin Walker in 2002 and spent several years in Florida until his death. Patsy spent the majority of her golden years living with her devoted daughter and son-in-law Shauna and Scott Davidson in Bloomingdale Il. And most recently in Iowa City (One of her favorites cities).
Patsy worked as a one room school teacher, a secretary for a law office, farm wife, Census Supervisor, and a secretary for Waste Management and Design. Patsy was especially proud of her shorthand skills, a long-lost art, which she continued to use until her death.
Patsy was known for her generous heart and kindness to others. She left many wonderful memories for her loved ones to cherish and will be greatly missed. Her love for knitting, art projects, drawing and painting of abstract art and mixed media projects, chocolate, and kitties will serve as reminders and put a smile on all our faces.
Survivors include:
Son: Kyle (Sue) Hoover, Webster City,
Daughters: Shauna (Scott) Davidson, Iowa City and Jennie (Andy) Nuehring of Webster City.

In lieu of memorials it would be Patsy’s wish that each of us say a kind word, help someone less fortunate, or offer a smile or word of encouragement.
Private family services will be at a later date.
