Steven James Graesch was born September 2, 1952 at Oelwein, the son of Floyd and Jean (Dibble) Graesch. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. Steven graduated from Oelwein High School with the class of 1971. During high school he worked at Browns Shoe Fit. He then attended Grandview College in Des Moines. After college he spent a summer in Florida, which he loved. His dream was to return there and retire. He went from working on the tracks to becoming a conductor. Steven worked for the railroad all his life. After 30 plus years, he retired in 2012 due to health reasons. It was his life and his passion. Steven married Kathy Cummings in Oelwein and they later divorced. Two children were born to this union, a son, Corbin and a daughter, Cierra.
Steven is survived by his son, Corbin James Graesch and his daughter, Cierra Lee Graesch both of Webster City; sister, Deb (Jr) McManigle of Oelwein; brother, Raymond (Jeanne) Graesch of Slater; sister, Gale (Jon) Smith of Hazleton; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
