Joyce M. Louis, 75, daughter of Emmett Eileen (Dunn) Coughlin, was born September 23, 1936 in Kinsman, IL. She passed away Monday, June 25, 2012 at her home in Lakeland, FL surrounded by her husband, five children, and a very supportive Hospice group during her last week.
On September 8, 1956, she married Joseph Louis in Kinsman, IL. They made their home in Ames, IA from 1971 until 1993, when they moved to Lake Panorama, Panora, IA. Joyce was a mother, volunteered and worked in administration at Iowa State University and at a dental office in Ames. Since 2005, they spent their winters in Lakeland, FL. Joyce was involved in several charities and church groups. She was a devout Catholic and she elected to be a stay at home mother for her five children. Joyce was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend, who truly enjoyed life, and made life more enjoyable for everyone around her. She was an avid golfer, boater, and a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Panora.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Joseph Louis of Panora; four sons daughters-in-law, Michael Louis of Ames, Robert (Diane) Louis of Davenport, Kevin (Ronnie) Louis of Casa Grande, AZ, and Gary (Loretta) Louis of Overland Park, KS; one daughter, Jane Wasel of Cohasset, MA. 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Four sisters, Colleen Kilbride, Delores Slattery, Joann (Ken) Turner, Betty Pfiefer, and one brother, William (Carol) Coughlin; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister brother-in-law, Rita (Thomas) Slattery; brother-in-law sister-in-law, Lee Mary Margaret Masching, and other brothers-in-law, Elwood Pfiefer, Robert Slattery, and Leo Kilbride. Memorials may be left to Good Shepard Hospice of Lakeland, FL
