Vernita Mabe

Vernita Mabe, 85, of Eldora, entered into eternal life Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the Mary Greely Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 19, at 9 a.m. at Union Community Church, Union. Visitation will be held Friday at Biersborn Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Biersborn Funeral Home is taking care of Vernita and her family.

Vernita was born on March 21, 1923, in Reinbeck, to Luther and Leota (Buffington) Morrill. She grew up and attended school in the Reinbeck area. She married Ira Mabe on May 1, 1940; together they had four children. He passed away on March 16, 1990. She worked most of her life in the health care industry as a certified medication aid.

She enjoyed listening to country music, dancing, cooking, watching soap operas and being with family.

Survivors include her daughter, Audrey (Jim) Schueller; her son, Harold Mabe; her son-in-law, Edward Cole Sr.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Vernita is joined in eternal life by her parents; her husband, Ira; her daughter, Linda Cole; her son, Clifford Mabe, and his wife Judy Mabe.
