Mrs. E. Kaufman Died Thursday At Son's Home

Mrs. Emma Kaufman died last Thursday at the home of her son Robert in Grundy Center. She had been in failing health for some time. The end was hastened by a paralytic stroke. She was 88 years old.

Funeral services were held at the Coffman funeral home in Grundy Center Sunday afternoon, followed by services at the Presbyterian church at Morrison. Rev. David Alexander, pastor of the Baptist church at Grundy Center, officiated at the services. Mrs. L. B. Canfield sang a solo. She was accompanied by Mrs. A. R. Trevillyan. Burial was beside the husband in the Morrison cemetery.

Relatives from a distance who were at the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Blossom, Algona; Grace and Margaret Rait, Cedar Falls; Mrs. Edna Hulton, Des Moines; Miss Ruth Kaufman, of Waterloo; W. L. Mooty, Oklahoma City; Mrs. Maurice Foster, Rockford, Ill.

Obituary
Mrs. Euphemia Kaufman, daughter of James and Euphemia Rait, was born Feb. 21, 1955[sic], at Peterhead, Scotland. At the age of 14 she came with her parents to Canada and later moved to Pennsylvania.

On Feb. 25, 1877, she was united in marriage at Eldred, Pennsylvania, to Kossuth Kaufman, who preceded her in death in 1930.

The family moved from Eldred to Morrison in 1891 and Mrs. Kaufman has resided in this community ever since.

Her church and Sunday school, to which she belonged for at least fifty years, held her deep interest and were not neglected as long as health permitted.

She is survived by her three children: Mrs. W. A. Mooty of Morrison; Robert of Grundy Center; and George of Oakland, Cal., and by six grandchildren.
