Funeral services were held Thursday, July 23, from First United Methodist Church of Jefferson for Vesper E. Morehead, 71, longtime Jefferson resident.

Dr. Allen Call pastor of the church, officiated. Mrs. Marc McGinn was soloist, with Mrs. Lee Sloan as organist.

Casket bearers were Don Wyckoff, Kenneth Baker, Walter Stidwell, Frank Tucker, Dell Bauer and Thomas Black. Interment was in Jefferson Cemetery.

Brown Funeral Home of Jefferson as in charge of arrangements.

Vesper E. Morehead, the daughter of Ross and Florence Bunch Green, was born April 9, 1916, at Pierre, SD. She died July 20, 1987, at Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson.

Vesper attended and graduated from Pierre High School. She later attended Northern College at Aberdeen, SD, and taught country school for several years.

On August 31, 1938, Vesper E. Green was united in marriage to William P. Morehead, at Boone. To this union was born one son, Dennis.

After their marriage, Bill worked in construction and in 1949 went to work for Boulcott Ford Motor Company. In 1954 Bill and Vesper started Morehead Motor Company which they owned and operated until Bill's death in 1983. After Bill's death, Vesper continued to make her home in Jefferson.

Vesper was a member of the United Methodist Church in Jefferson.

Survivors include her son and his wife, Dennis and Sandy of Lake Panorama; three grandchildren, Bill, Debbi and Troy; and three brothers, Maurice and Russell Green, both of Pierre, SD, and Maynard of Keystone, SD.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband.
