Barbara Louise Gannon, 51, of Ames died of a heart attack Tuesday at Mary Greeley Medical Center there. The body was cremated, and memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 19 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Ames. Burial of the cremains will be at Grand Junction Cemetery.
She was born in Jefferson and had lived in Ankeny most of her life before moving to Ames one year ago. She was a secretary for Precision Machinery. She enjoyed antiques, golfing, family occasions and reading.
She is survived by a son, Todd of Savage, Minn.; a daughter, Kelli Gannon of Ankeny; her mother, Bernice Carter of Ames; four sisters, Janis Scharingson of Grand Junction, Susan Barnwell and Joan Sherwood, both of Hilton Head, S.C., and Annette Nelson of Story City; two brothers, Chuck Carter of Eagan, Minn., and Dick Carter of Ames; and a grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or Stonehaven Residences in Ames. Cremation Society of Iowa is handling arrangements.
