OBITUARY

Jay Laverty

Jay Laverty, son of Alvin and Ollie Williams Laverty, was born at Ashland, Nebr. Oct. 25, 1895 and died at the Hamburg Community hospital, Jan. 9, 1962 at the age of 66 years, two months, and 15 days.

He was united in marriage to Ellen Peterson May 8, 1917. He farmed in the Ashland area until 1931 when they moved to the Hamburg community. In 1949 Mr. and Mrs. Laverty moved to a farm near Braddyville, Iowa where he lived until his death.

He is survived by his wife Ellen; two daughters, Mrs. Jean Athen of Hamburg and Mrs. Frances Tyner of Shenandoah; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Nettie Best of near Los Angeles, Calif.; and one brother, E. A. Laverty of Ainsworth, Neb.

Funeral services were held at Rash Funeral Home Friday, Jan. 12, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. M.J. Nash officiating. Interment was in Mt. Zion cemetery.
