Thursday, July 31, 1941Earl V Clayton Dies at Veteran's Hospital
Earl V "Johnny" Clayton, who had been sick for some time, was taken to the veterans' hospital at Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Monday afternoon, and died that night at eleven o'clock. Drs. R.W. and Keith Sykes and Ralph Clayton accompanied Earl to the hospital.
Earl V Clayton was born in Atchison County, Missouri, March 6, 1887, and died July 28, 1941, aged 54 years, 4 months, and 23 days. He served during the World War. For some time past he has conducted a roadside establishment south of Hamburg. He is survived by one brother, Ralph Clayton, numerous other relatives and friends.
The funeral services were held at the Mansfield Funeral Home on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by the Rev. G.L. Hufstader, and interment was in the Hamburg Cemetery.
