Rodney Floyd Bacon, 74, of Delhi, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at his home in Delhi. He was born on May 28, 1947, in Manchester, the son of Kenneth and Arlene (Hansel) Bacon. Rodney grew up in the Delhi area and was a 1965 graduate of Maquoketa Valley High School. He grew up farming and working with livestock which carried over into his adult life. Rodney also did custom work for hire.

On March 20, 1971, Rodney married his classmate, Sharon Kay Faust, at the United Church of Christ Church in Earlville. Three children, Kurt, Shana, and Mark, were born to this union. Throughout his farming career, Rodney had a cow/calf operation, farrow to finish hog operation, feeder cattle, and did crop farming. He was a former member of Farmer’s Silver Spring Co-Op in Delhi, the Farm Bureau, the Delaware County Pork Producers, and the Delaware County Cattlemen. Later in his life, you could find him at the county fair behind the 4-H food stand grilling hamburgers.

Rodney was a quiet, soft-spoken man, who was always ready to help others. He enjoyed the family cabin at Lake Delhi, watching his grandsons and their sports, being outdoors, “putzing” in his shop, and especially the harvest season. Rodney will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sharon Bacon of Delhi; one son, Kurt (Jeni) Bacon of Monticello; his daughter, Shana (Matt) Wall of Delhi; two grandsons, Brady and Ty Wall; one brother, Kent (Rose) Bacon of Council Grove, Kansas; one sister, Ann (Richard) Barton of Stoughton, Wisconsin; a sister-in-law, Fran Caldwell of Mesa, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Mark Bacon; his parents-in-law, E. Nadine and Gerald Faust; and a brother-in-law, Ken Caldwell.
