Julius Schwandt has for some time been making an attempt to secure naturalization papers. Accordingly, he has secured W. D. Nieman as sponsor, supposing the latter to be an American citizen. However it develops that Mr. Nieman is not an American citizen, although his rights has never been challenged during his long residence in this county. An official from St. Louis connected with the naturalization of aliens summoned the Messrs. Schwandt and Nieman to Manchester last week and stated that since Mr. Nieman was not a citizen the application of Mr. Schwandt was void.
