Morton, Clifford L. - 1925-2011

DAVID, FROST, GRANDFIELD, MORTON

Fulfilling his service obligation, Clifford L. Morton, of Apache Junction AZ, went to meet his shipmates on 11-11-11, a true veteran to the end.
Cliff was born December 21, 1925 in Minburn, IA, to Glenn and Flossie Morton.
He attended Minburn High School and joined the Navy after the Pearl Harbor invasion.
He proudly served on LST 825 in WWII and was at Iwo Jima for the invasion.
After WWII, he returned to Iowa where he met and wed Yvonne Marie Frost in 1947.
Their 64 years of marriage is a true testament to their love.
Cliff worked for Meredith Publishing for 37 years as an ink maker and a lithographer.
He enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and mostly collecting. He was a pack rat extraordinaire
He is survived by his wife; by his son, Calvin Morton (Ruth Ann) of Pinellas Park, FL; his daughter, Mary Morlan Grandfield (John) of Sedalia, MO; five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; his brother, Lloyd Morton of Galena, MO; and his sister, Maureen David of Bagley, IA
A memorial service will be organized in the spring of 2012, to celebrate and honor his life.
