Proctor, Joseph Warren, Jr. - 1934-2011

Joseph “Joe” Proctor, Jr., was born on April 4, 1934, and passed away peacefully on November 27, 2011, with family at his side.
Joe resided in Upstate New York for over 40 years and moved to Waukee, Iowa, to be closer to family during the last four years of his life. Wherever Joe lived he was admired for his friendliness, gentle nature and love for his family. He was a true gentleman in business and in life. A successful carpenter and contractor for decades, he owned and operated his own business in New York and built hundreds of buildings and remolded homes. Living either near Long Island or in Canandaigua, New York he was an avid fisherman and boater and had a passion for enjoying the outdoors. He graduated from State University of Farmingdale, N.Y. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War as a radar technician. He belonged to the Sons of the American Revolution, was a Master Mason belonging to the Masonic Temple for over 50 years, and volunteered.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ethel Proctor. He is survived by his children, daughter, Melissa (John) Carroll, his son, Capt. Russell (Michelle) Proctor, and his daughter, Allison Robbins; his grandchildren, Brendan, Conor, Meghan, Jonathan, Audrey and Joseph; a sister and brother in-law, Virginia and Leigh Ericson; a niece and nephew; and an extended family in New York, Texas, Colorado, Maine, Florida, Maryland and Nevada.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the library of Thomas Place, 560 SE Brick Drive, Waukee, Iowa, on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, with a scripture service to begin at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the SIDS Foundation in memory of Joe.
He was loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed.
