Edna Bartelt, 94, died Sunday, December 11, 2011, at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, December 16, at the First Presbyterian Church in Grimes, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sunny Hill Cemetery there.
Edna was born in rural Grimes and lived in the Grimes area all of her life. She married Earl Bartelt on December 31, 1936, at her parent's home in Grimes. They made their home on the Grinnell/Bauman family farm. Edna worked at Parker Games in Urbandale for 13 years, retiring in 1980 when they moved in to Grimes. She was an 80-year member of the First Presbyterian Church in Grimes.
Edna is survived by her daughter, Colene Townsend of Grimes and her granddaughter Angela Bartelt of Cherry Hill, NJ. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl, son Roger, son-in-law, Lloyd Townsend, and two sisters, Mildred Bauman and Doris Hawbaker.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Grimes.
