Margaret quietly left her home the morning of December 7, at the age of 96, to be with her husband of 61 years.

Margaret was born the 21st of November 1915 to J. Nicholas and Edith Mabel Toussaint in Ft. Madison, Iowa where Nicholas was the Deputy Warden of the penitentiary. She grew up in Des Moines with her mother and stepfather Augustus Gerald Cox. In 1933, she graduated from North High School. On June 5, 1938, she and Elston John (Al) Narland were married in the Little Brown Church at Nashua.

Margaret was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother with an enthusiasm for life, family and friends. Of all the places she was employed during her life she would most often look back on the many years at Mercy Hospital and the legion of friends there. Her widely varied interests include: many forms of handcraft, cooking, entertaining and decorating her home. The days and hours she spent working in the yard and flower gardens gave her great pleasure and satisfaction.

She is survived by two sons Jerrold and Dennis Narland; three daughters-in-law Orlene Narland, Kathleen Narland and Nancy Narland; three grandchildren Russell Narland, Jennifer Broadstone and Katherine Narland; niece Veronica Toussaint; three great-grandchildren Griffin Broadstone, Scott Broadstone and Kaylee Morgan Johnson.

The family will have a private service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Iowa Hospice at 5399 Chimra Road, Panora, IA 50216.
