PROCLAMATION
To The Citizens Of The Town of Adel and Vicinity:WHEREAS, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, President of the United States died on Thursday, April 12, 1945, and
WHEREAS, the funeral services on the late president will be held between the hours of two o'clock and four o'clock P.M., on Saturday, April 14, 1945, at the White House, and it is deemed meet and proper that Adel and community join with the rest of the country inpaying tribute to his memory during the hours set aside for the funeral services.
THEREFORE, I, E. C. Chance, Mayor of the Town of Adel, Iowa, do hereby proclaim and request that all offices and places of business in the Town of Adel be closed between the hours of two o'clock P.M. and four o'clock P.M., on Saturday, April 14, 1945, and that the people of Adel and vicinity assemble at the Rialto Theatre of Adel where memorial services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock P.M.
