KIRON MOURNED LAST SUNDAY
Funeral Services Held of Two Well Known Formerly Kiron Boys -- John Engberg and Charley Palm
JOHN FREDRICK ENGBERG
John Fredrick Engberg, the son of one of Kiron's wealthy retired farmers, C. E. Engberg, died at his home near Kulm, North Dakota, Monday afternoon October 19, 1908, after a severe illness, at the age of thirty-seven years. He leaves a wife and seven children. Besides his family who mourn his death are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Engberg of this place and three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Harlan Smith, of Nebraska, Mrs, W. I. Fowle, of Ames, Iowa, Miss Lillian and J. A. Engberg, of Kiron.
The remains arrived here Saturday noon and the funeral services were held at two o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Baptist church, Rev. A. Lagerquist conducting the services. At the close of this solemn service all were permitted to look for the last time upon the face of the departed; then the sad cortege moved on to our silent city.
Well may his children cherish his memory as a precious legacy and we fain would say a word of comfort to the stricken ones we can but let our tears flow in sympathy with theirs and point them to the promise, "At evetide it shall be light."From Glenn Gustafson
