Mrs. Martha Anderson 1845 - 1926

Mrs. Martha Anderson died Monday morning, 11 October 1926 at the home of her son, Oscar Anderson, 3311 Third Avenue, Sioux City, from infirmities attendant upon advanced age. She was 81 years old. The remains will be brought to Ida Grove and funeral services will take place at Moore’s undertaking parlors at 1 p.m. At 2 p.m. there will be public services at the Swedish Baptist church south of Arthur in charge of Rev. P. Lovene. She will be laid to rest in the Arthur cemetery.

Martha K. Edlund was born in Ångermanland, Sweden, 17 August 1845. She came to America in 1866. She was married to John Anderson in 1868 at Denison being one of the first settlers of that part of the state. Their first residence in that county was in sod houses. She joined the Baptist church at Kiron in 1869. In 1881 they moved to Ida county and were among the first to organize the Baptist church of Arthur.

Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death 20 years by her husband and 10 years by her oldest son, John. Surviving are three sons, Oscar of Sioux City, Reuben and Charles of Arthur, and one daughter, Mrs. Amanda Lindgren of Lawton and 10 grandchildren.
