Dies Suddenly

Last Rites Held at Evangelical Free Church Tuesday

Walter Buller, oldest son of the late Henry and Anna Buller, was born on the Henry Buller homestead adjoining Old Kiron on the north, Nov. 24, 1886, and passed away Jan 21, 1941 at the age of 54 years, 1 month and 27 days. His death was sudden, caused by a heart attack while at work on a portion of his farm a mile north of the homestead, from where he, assisted by neighbors and friends, was hauling cane fodder.

His entire life was spent on the farm. Following the death of his father he carried on the farming operations up to the time of his death, with the exception of ten months spent in the Service of the World War with Company F. 330 overseas. After the death of his mother, his youngest brother, Randolph, continued to make his home with him. Walter was a friend to everybody, always congenial and cheerful, and ready to give a lending hand where needed. Dearly loved by his sisters, brothers, nieces, and nephews, and respected by friends and neighbors, he shall be sorely missed. He was a member of the Kiron Legion Post 383.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by two brothers, Reuben and Randolph Buller of Kiron, two sisters, Viola, Mrs. Roy Swanson of Omaha, and Mattie, Mrs. L. M. Clauson of Ames, a large number of other relatives, and a host of friends.

Funeral services, with Military escort, was held from the Evangelical Free Mission Church at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. A. Nelson of the Evangelical. Free Church and Rev. W. W. Johnson of the Baptist Church. A male quartet composed of Reuben and Wayne Lindskoog, Newell Clauson and Milton Nelson, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Newel Clauson sang "The Beautiful Land" and "When You Know Jesus, Too." Many came to pay their last respects to the departed brother.

The pallbearers were Arthur Jacobson, George Johnson, Raymond Larson, Herbert Baker, Walter Carlson and Ted Johnson. Military rites were held at the cemetery by the Kiron Legion Post. Interment was made in the family plot in the Kiron Cemetery.

Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were the two sisters, Mrs. Roy Swanson of Omaha and Mrs. L. M. Clauson of Ames, together with Mr. Clauson and three children, a niece, Mrs. Owen Stoner and daughter, Alice Lee, of Omaha, Mr. and Mrs. Tenor Buller of Nevada, Iowa, Mrs. L. L. Moorehouse, Mrs. Emil Flodine, Wayne Swanson, Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Nordell and Janice and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nordell and son, all of Omaha. and Mrs. Leslie Carlberg of Cherokee.

All business in Kiron was suspended from 2 to 3 o'clock in respect for the departed.
