The Denison cannon has the unenviable reputation as being a condemned piece. In firing it, as soon as the fuse is lighted our brave artillerymen hastily retire to a safe distance some three to four miles away. With the aid of field-glasses they are able to distinguish a small puff of smoke and thereby determine when the discharge takes place.
