Funeral services over the remains of the late Mrs. Jane Ashpole were conducted fro the Tabernacle church, four miles west of Lyons, Monday afternoon, followed by interment in the Hess cemetery. A long line of carriages followed the remains to their last resting place.

THAT ETERNAL REST

Mrs. Jane Ashpole, a pioneer resident of Clinton county, died at her home, 424 Second avenue, at 3:30 Saturday afternoon, death resulting from a complication of diseases, due to old age.

Jane Broughton was born in Cambridgeshire, England, August 2, 1818, and was therefore about seventy-six years old at the time of her death. She was married to John Ashpole in the year 1840, and together they came to America in 1844, settling in Ashtabula, Ohio. In 1854, ten years later, they came to Clinton county, locating on a farm west of Lyons. About eleven years ago they gave the farm into the care of a son and moved to this city, where they have resided since.

Deceased was a true Christian woman, having become united with the Methodist church many years ago, and she died in that blessed faith of the great beyond -- that home eternal in the heavens. She was a kind neighbor, always willing wo assist those in need, and do what she could to comfort those in trouble.

Besides the aged husband, five children are left to mourn -- four sons and one daughter, all of whom were with her during her last illness.

Brief services will be held at the residence at 12:30 o'clock Monday noon, conducted by Rev. F. L. Loveland, after which the remains will be taken to the tabernacle four miles west of the city, where funeral services will be held, followed by interment in the Hess cemetery.
