Leaves Fortune to Charities
The will of Thomas Calderwood, probated at Clinton, leaves $15,000 for charitable purposes, distributed as follows: Lyons Methodist Episcopal Church, $2,000; Rev. T. DeWitt Talmage, Washington, $6,000, to be used for missionary work in Armenia and India; the same to be held in trust by Mr. Talmage and disposed of as he sees fit; Christian Home Association, Council Bluffs, Iowa, $1,000; Lyons Library Association, $2,000; Agatha Hospital, Clinton, $1,000; needy poor of Lyons, $2,000; to Rev. G. R. Manning of DeWitt he left $1,000. Mr. Calderwood was a bachelor, who died recently, leaving an estate valued at about $80,000. He had no near relatives.
