Lolie Minear was born to William and Venturia Minear November 11, 1851, near Cedar Rapids, Linn county, Iowa. When a small child her parents came to Polk county, settling on a farm at Adelphia, near the then Fort Des Moines. Here she grew to womanhood and on August 1, 1875, she was united in marriage to Thomas D. Kearney of Indianola, Iowa.

In May, 1877, she with her husband, removed to Clarke county, where they made their home until October, 1894, when they moved to Douglas county, Missouri. Here death claimed her companion February 16, 1904.

She continued Missouri as her home until 1912, when she came back to Clarke county, where she spent the declining years of her life in the home of her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Emmet Roe, passing to the Better Land September 15, 1928, aged 76 years, 10 months and 4 days.

To Father and Mother Kearney were born six sons and three daughters; Mrs. Mintie Weaklend, Mrs. Estella Roe and Mrs. Lolie Maude Smock of Kansas City, Mo. who died January 27, 1927; Carl M. Kearney died in 1912.
Sons are Warner Kearney of Clarke county, Iowa, Thomas D. Jr. of Kansas, twin sons Paul Arthur of Roxana, Okla. and Earl A. of Lucas Kansas, and Gilbert of Clarke county. Five sons, two daughters and 12 grandchildren mourn her passing.

In her girlhood Mother Kearney accepted Christ and was baptized into the faith of the Christian church to which doctrine she remained true. Possessed of an indomitable will and courage of Welsh an German ancestors, she weathered many hardships and vicissitudes where less courageous would have failed, an possessing a heart filled with love for her fellow beings, she was never happier than when doing some kindly deed, or ministering to the wants of someone, often giving of her scanty means to help someone less fortunate than she.

Suffering a paralytic stroke last January, she had since been an invalid. Suffering much, though cared for tenderly by children and loving friends often saying she did not want to complain but submit to her Master’s will, but as the time of suffering lengthened, often expressed the wish to be at rest, her last words were ‘God speed the time.’

Funeral services were held at 2:30 Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Roy Weaklend of Clearfield, Iowa. After the services which were ably conducted, the remains were tenderly laid by the side of her mother who had preceded her 37 years ago last April.

We want to thank everyone who kindly assisted us in every way during the sickness and death of our dear mother. For the floral offerings and consoling words of the minister and to all we are very grateful - The Children
