2005Mildred Berniece Cartwright, daughter of Carl Thomas Grimes & Flora Dell (Wallace) Grimes, was born September 3, 1912 in Wayne County near Clio, Iowa and passed away May 9, 2005 at Kavanagh House in Des Moines at the age of 92.
Mildred attended country schools near Lineville and consolidated school in Ravana, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Thomas John Cartwright on November 14, 1934 at Strand Church in Villisca, Iowa. Five children blessed this union.
Mildred lived most of her life in Osceola. She worked as a cook at the Clarke County Hospital. She loved to sew, make doll clothes & crochet. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening & loved her flowers.
Preceding Mildred in death were her parents; husband, Tom in 1984; son, Jerald (Hoss) Cartwright in 2003; and grandson, Michael Mozga in 1965.
She is survived by son, Jerry Cartwright & wife Erma of Monroe; daughters, JoAnn Norton & husband George of West Des Moines & Florida, Janiece Mozga & husband John of Des Moines, Janie McCall & husband Monte of Osceola; 10 grandchildren, Randy Cartwright & wife Diane of Monroe, Valerie Edwards & husband Curt of Monroe, Tammy Day & husband Mike of Urbandale, Tim Norton & wife Shelly of Raleigh, NC, Julie Lancial & husband Tim of Des Moines, Teri Sacco & husband Tim of Waukee, Betsy Wheeler & husband Steve of Waukee, Tony Mozga & wife Sue of Des Moines, Rick Mozga of Des Moines, Kayla McBurney & husband Jeremy of Murray; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; sisters, Marie Brown of Cedar Rapids, Genevieve Thompson & husband Kendall of Ottumwa, Violet Nichols & husband Leon (Nick) of Oklahoma, Dorothy Adkins of Kansas; brother Lloyd Grimes & wife Barbara of Texas; many nieces & nephews; other relatives & friends.
