Mary E. Little Browns was born to Hugh and Maria Little at Prairie Grove, Ia. Jan. 22, 1868. On March 23, 1887 she was united in marriage to Louis A. Browns at South River, in a wheat field where they found the minister at the time.
She died at her home in Murray where she had lived for many years, Oct. 16, 1956, at the age of 88 years and 9 months.
Life was no easy task for her because she felt that the care of her children came first in her life and for this reason she never traveled very much and her life was spent in her home in or near Murray. In February 1911 she was baptized and united with the Church of Christ. She remained faithful to her church until the end.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis A. Browns, daughter Ruby, her parents and sisters and brothers. Survivors are two daughters, Mable Rollings of Afton and Maudie Warren of Lorimor; seven sons, Charles of Ainsworth, Nebr., George of New York, Joe of Colorado, Pearl of California, James of Marshalltown, and Paul and Richard of Murray; thirty grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, and many devoted friends.
She had been affiliated with Esther Rebekah lodge at Murray for more than 52 years and had been presented with the 50 year pin.
Her pastor, Rev. Walter Williams, officiated at the service which was held Friday, October 19, at 2 p.m. at the Murray Church of Christ, with the Watts Funeral services in charge.
Mrs. Stanley Watts and Mrs. Gerald Johnson sang, with Mrs. Erma Hindes accompanying at the organ. Mrs. Delia Claver, Mrs. Mae Arnold and Mrs. Vella Dick were in charge of flowers which were many and beautiful. Burial was in the Murray cemetery by the side of her husband and daughter.
