Obituary,
Agnes Laird was born in Huntington, Canada, April 16, 1839, and died at her home in Marengo, Iowa, August 4, 1917, at 6:30 p. m., aged 78 years 3 months and 18 days. In the year 1857 she came with her parents to the United States, and settled at Bradford, Iowa, when about 13 years of age she was converted and shortly after united with the Methodist Episcopal church of which she remained a faithful member until the time of her death. In the year 1861 on April 9th, she was united in marriage to Mr. Thomas Bigger, and to this union were born five children, two of whom preceded her to the spirit world. In October, 1861, her husband answered the call of his country and enlisted in the Engineers regiment of the west, and she returned to the home of her parents where she remained until her husband returned from the war, when they again started life together. Some years later Mr. Bigger entered the ministry of the Methodist Episcopal church ,and Mrs. Bigger entered heartily into the work with her husband, and proved a great benediction wherever they went, during over twenty years of their active work in ministry. Mrs. Bigger was a sweet Christian character, and made friends wherever she went, she was a constant student of the bible and her keen mind grasped and held its truth which she loved so much to ponder in later years. Mrs. Bigger possessed the gift of public speech, and on different occasions during Rev. Biggers absence from home she occupied the pulpit very acceptably. When through failing health Rev. Bigger was forced to retire from the ministry they settled in Osceola, Wisconsin, and from there came to Marengo, Iowa, where she has resided until the time of her death; she was a faithful wife, a loving mother, and a true friend and will be greatly missed by her loved ones and friends. She leaves to mourn their loss her husband, Rev. Thomas Bigger, and three daughters, Mrs. George Danskin, of Marengo, Iowa; Mrs. A. T. Adams, of Sleepy Eye, Minn., and Mrs. F. T. Grand, of Toronto, Canada. Eight grand children and three great grand children, one brother, Mr. B. B. Laird of Nashua, besides other relatives and a host of friends.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows the name spelled Biggar. She is buried in Greenwood Cemetery. It also shows she was born May 16, 1839 which does not agree with the above.
