Smallpox. A quarantine was established °vet the house of U. Gitzendonner in this city Monday afternoon. Dr. Schilling was called there by the illness of Mr. Gitzendonner's son Fred. He reported it a case of smallpox to Mayor Levis who called Dr. Landon and Dr. T. K. Gardner and the three after examining the case pronounced it to be smallpox. The quarantine sign was placed on the house about 5 o'clock. The young man has but recently returned to the city and has not been feeling well for more than a week. The disease is of the mild form now prevalent in many localities and there is no cause for alarm. Ample precautions have been taken against the spreading of the malady and the premises will be kept under strict surveillance.
