Last rites for Clarence Lloyd (Pappy) Beaver, 93, were held at First Church United, West Liberty, May 8, 1989 with the Rev. Ralph Farmer officiating. Burial was in the North Prairie cemetery, West Liberty.

Mr. Beaver died at the Simpson Memorial Home, West Liberty, May 4.

The son of Charles and Rosamond Longerbeam Beaver, he was born in Linn township, Cedar county, Feb. 9, 1896. He married Sophia (Peggy) Wendt in Tipton Oct. 14, 1915. The couple had observed their 73rd wedding anniversary.

Mr. Beaver attended Cedar county schools and worked and farmed in Cedar county until retiring in 1961. The couple had spent winters in Florida, California, Arizona and Texas. He was an avid fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, Marvin and Donald, West Liberty; a daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Luva Jean) Petersen, Tipton; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; 3 step-great-grandchildren and a sister, Elsie Barkalow, Iowa City. He was preceded in death by a son and 10 brothers and sisters.
