Funeral services for Alta Cruse, 91, Tipton, were held July 28 at Sheets and Son Funeral Home in Tipton, with the Rev. Robert Molsberry officiating. Joe Mallie was the vocalist and Eleanor Swan was the organist. Pallbearers were Karl Jess, Bruce Glaspey, John Jensen, Darren Cruse, Marty Wagner and Cecil Mathias. Burial was in the Rose Hill cemetery in Mechanicsville.

Mrs. Cruse died July 24 at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids following a short illness.

The daughter of Frank and Minna Pieper Jackson, she was born June 19, 1895 near Mechanicsville. She attended the Mechanicsville schools and graduated in 1912.

She married Elmer Cruse Feb. 9, 1926 in Tipton and she was a homemaker. She was a former resident of Mechanicsville and had lived in Tipton since 1958.

Mrs. Cruse was a member of Ruth Circle United Church of Christ in Mechanicsville, the American Legion Auxiliary and the World War II Veterans Auxiliary. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Tipton.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Darold (Dorothy) Stuhr, Zwingle and Lorraine Cruse, Tipton; a son, Raymond, Solon; 4 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and 3 sisters, Mrs. Nella Hawthorne, Tipton; Mrs. Myrtle Farrington, Olin and Mrs. Dorothy Wright, Tipton. She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, a sister and one granddaughter.
