MANNING - John S. Kasperbauer, 80, of rural Manning died at the Manning General Hospital early Friday morning. He had been in failing health for the past year and entered the Manning General Hospital a week ago.
Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Sacred Heart Church, Manning. Burial will be in the parish cemetery under the direction of the Ohde Funeral Home, Manning. Military honors will be by the Manning V.F.W. and Emil Ewoldt Post No. 22, American Legion, Manning.
Friends may call at the Ohde Funeral Home, Manning, after 4 p.m. Saturday. The rosary will be recited at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. A Bible service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday and a rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday.
Mr. Kasperbauer, son of Frank X. and Frances Pfeffer Kasperbauer, was born on March 28, 1896, near Templeton. He attended Sacred Heart Schools in Templeton. He served overseas in World War I in the U.S. Army. His marriage to Clara Balk took place on Jan. 10, 1928. They have always farmed north of Manning. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish of Manning, V.F.W. of Manning and past commander of that post and a member of the Emil Ewoldt Post No. 22, American Legion, Manning.
Surviving are his wife and nine children: Dr. Michael Kasperbauer of Lexington, Ky., Mrs. Fred (Marian) Fitzsimmons of Vail, Mrs. Wallace (Patty) Sheets of Cedar Rapids, Dr. Larry Kasperbauer of Agana, Guam, Major James C. Kasperbauer of Andrews Air Force Base, Md., Lt. Col. Gerald Kasperbauer of Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, Major Patrick Kasperbauer of Tooele Army Depot, Utah, Mrs. Steven (Linda) Johanson of Forest City and Lonnie Kasperbauer of Des Moines. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren; two brothers, Herman Kasperbauer of Dedham and Fred Kasperbauer of Carroll, and one sister, Mrs. Michael (Eleanor) Hayes of Omaha, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and seven brothers.
