James Walrath was born in Madison county, New York, September 3, 1847. His parents, Henry and Elizabeth Walrath, were also natives of said State. In 1859 the family emigrated to Illinois, and in 1863 to Monroe county, Wisconsin; thence in 1871 to Iowa. In 1876 James married Miss Margaret Dixson, of Will county, Illinois. They have three children – Willie J., Mary E. and Carrie Belle. Mr. Walrath is a republican in politics, and at present is assessor of Butler township.
