Judy Irene Fisher, 82 of Jesup, IA, died on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Unity Point – Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, IA.

Judy was born on February 24, 1941, in Columbus, OH, and was the daughter of LuVerna Righter and Leland Young. She grew up in Plain City, OH and was a 1959 graduate of Jonathan Alder High School in Plaine City, OH. She went onto work for many years at the Ranco Company in Plain City, OH, where she later retired.

Judy married Ronald Newberry. They made their home together in Broadway, OH and raised a son, Ronald “Buddy” Newberry.

Judy married Thomas Fisher on December 19, 1993. Judy loved spending time outdoors. While volunteering for trail maintenance at a campground in Florida, she helped locate the owner of a lost dog who belonged to Thomas Fisher. They fell in love and married.

Together they lived full time in their RV, traveling throughout the United States. They had many adventures and hiked countless miles of trails. In 2020, they finally settled down in Jesup, IA to be closer to family.

Judy enjoyed flowers, gardening, backpacking, jewelry making, and sewing. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Ohio affiliate.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Fisher, Jesup, IA, a son, Ronald “Buddy” Newberry, Marysville, OH, two stepsons: Tommy (Sandy) Fisher, and Mike (Deb) Fisher both of Jesup, IA, her grandchildren: Simon Newberry and Ethan (Brittney) Newberry, step-grandchildren, Ben (Melanie) Fisher, Blake (Courtney) Fisher, and Zach (Bailey) Fisher. Two great-grandchildren in Ohio and six step-great-grandchildren in Iowa, a sister Jean Ann Carpenter-Haycook, Plain City, OH, a brother, Ken Young, Bend, OR, and several nieces and nephews.

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, a stepdaughter, Mary (Fisher) Dillon, and a sister, Christine Brooker.

A Memorial Service will be held at 6 PM on Friday, February 14, 2025, at the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA.

Visitation will be held from 4 PM until the service on Friday at the funeral home.
