James J. Adams, 69, of Winthrop, IA, died on Monday, January 20, 2025, at his home in Winthrop, IA.

James was born on December 14, 1955, in Dubuque, IA, the son of Sylvester M. and Helen B. (Henry) Adams. He attended the Dubuque Community Schools. He soon started his own FF&E Construction Company traveling throughout the United States cleaning and finishing newly constructed hotels. James eventually settled in Winthrop, IA in 2007.

He is survived by his children, Jason Adams, Jolene Adams, and Justin (Tasha) Adams all of Dubuque, IA, his grandchildren; Jayden Goodendorf, Caiden Adams, Braiden Adams, Maggie Stache, Alexis Goodendorf, Trenton Goodendorf, Madeline Folks, Peyton Adams, Amelia Adams, Britton Adams, a great-granddaughter, Everleigh, and a nephew Randy Madigan and a great-nephew Tyler.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Helen Adams, a son James Adams Jr., a brother, William Adams, a sister Helen Madigan, and his close friend, Roger Lohse.

A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
