Kyle Patrick Decker, 26, of Winthrop, IA, tragically passed away in a motor vehicle accident just north of Walker, IA, on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

Kyle was born on June 10, 1998, in Waterloo, IA, the son of Brent Decker and Bridget Moroney. Kyle grew up in Winthrop, IA, and attended East Buchanan Schools. From a young age, Kyle exhibited a natural curiosity and zest for life. He was an outstanding student and a talented athlete, known for his kindness and willingness to help others. Kyle excelled in sports, particularly wrestling, where he was a three-time Iowa High School State Wrestling Qualifier, competing at weights 1A 132, 1A 132, and 1A 138. His leadership shone through as student council president. He graduated from East Buchanan High School in 2017 and went on to attend and wrestle at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, IA.

Kyle’s free spirit led him to travel the country in a van he converted himself, seeking out the beauty of nature through hiking and climbing. He cherished his adventures in Colorado and other western states, where he found inspiration in the great outdoors. Kyle had a deep appreciation for comedy, podcasts, and music, often attending concerts to soak in the energy of live performances. His love for discovering new comedians and thought-provoking podcasts was a testament to his ever-curious mind and joyful spirit.

Professionally, Kyle worked at Iowa Wall Sawing before becoming a certified personal trainer, sharing his passion for wellness and fitness with others. He was dedicated to helping people achieve their health goals and make positive changes in their lives. His true calling, however, was in renovating houses. Kyle had a remarkable ability to see potential in homes and, with his talents and skills, he transformed them into beautiful spaces.

Kyle’s love for his family and friends was boundless. Growing up, he and his older sister created countless memories with their shared group of friends, forming bonds that would last a lifetime. Kyle had a natural ability to make friends wherever he went, always seeing the good in people and never speaking ill of anyone. His positive outlook and genuine kindness endeared him to everyone he met. He found immense joy in spending time with his family and his beloved pets, Kodak and Rainbow. As an uncle, he brought endless fun and happiness to his niece, Vivienne, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever.

Kyle’s life, though tragically cut short, was filled with joy, adventure, and love. He lived each day to the fullest, embracing every opportunity to explore, learn, and connect with others. His vibrant spirit and the positive impact he had on those around him will be remembered and celebrated by all who knew him. Kyle’s legacy is one of kindness, adventure, and a deep appreciation for the beauty of life.
