From a letter from John's son, Dick:
John Ferreter and Matilda Kimm were the first couple to be married at the new St. Patrick's church at Fairfax, IA. They started farming on a place south of Fairfax, IA. later, they moved to a farm SW of Rowley, Iowa. From there, they moved to a farm east of Quasqueton, Iowa and this time, they bought the property. During the Depression, it was impossible to keep up the payments and they lost the farm.
In 1932, Matilda died and John rented again for a number of years. He later moved into Winthrop, Iowa, where he lived until he died in 1973.From a letter from Colleen Ferreter-Smith:
