Bonnie Gail (Smith) Jermier

Dallas Center - Bonnie Gail (Smith) Jermier, 92, of Dallas Center, formerly of Brooklyn, IA passed away on Sunday, October 7 2018, at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center.

Bonnie was born December 29, 1925 in Plainfield IA. She was the daughter of Gailerd Leroy and Helen Viola (Smith) Smith. She received her education in Plainfield graduating in 1944. On June 9, 1946 she was united in marriage to James Albert Jermier by the Justice of Peace in Osage, IA. They made their residence in Plainfield, Cedar Falls, Ames, Brooklyn and ended their journey finally in Dallas Center.

Bonnie was a story teller. Her books and stories were built around her family life. She loved to be an organizer and put her skills to work thru volunteering for Church, AFS, PEO and Circle. Bonnie had the love for food and anything to do with it. Her reading material was cookbooks - making notes in the margins of how she changed the recipe. Most memorable was her bread. She baked bread for all holidays and meals for the family. At the age of 91 she was still making bread for Jim and herself.

As an artist she dabbled at painting. Her sons knew her for her pictures she would paint, women knew her for her quilts, and the grandchildren knew her for the painted gourd Santa Claus and handmade Christmas ornaments.

As you can see, Bonnie was a very dedicated Wife, Mother and Grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, a grandson Christopher and a brother-in-law Gerald piper.

Bonnie is survived by her sons, Stevan Jermier and David (Brenda) Jermier, both of Dallas Center; grandchildren Matt (Katie) Jermier of Waukee, and Julie (Chris) Watson of Littleton Co, granddaughter-in-law Cali Jermier of Grimes, her great grandchildren; Bryce, Ellie, Macey, Kale and Madden Jermier, Tyson, Jalen, and Quentin Watson, two sisters: Mary Piper and Judy (Norman) Carbiener and two foreign exchange students: Robert Jansson of Sweden and Eliatan Machado of Brazil.

A Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2018 at the Brandt Funeral Home in Dallas Center. Burial will be at later date in the Horton Cemetery in Horton, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church in Brooklyn IA or Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center. Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com.
