Death of Father Barrett
A. C. Barret, father of State Superintendent R. C. Barrett and Rev. Mandus Barrett, of Cresco, died at Waverly, near which place he had lived for nearly fifty years. Mrs. Barrett, his wife, died last December, and since then he had been living with his children. He returned to Waverly recently to visit old friends and relatives. It appears that last week Tuesday he helped a crippled friend, out of a buggy. In so doing he injured himself, and was soon taken sick with heart weakness,to which he succombed{sic} last Saturday morning. His sons were with him at his death bed.—Decorah Republican.Transcriber’s Note: The last name is spelled two different ways.
