WAVERLY - Eleanor Mae Montgomery Baumgartner, 84, of Waverly, died Jan. 7, at her home.
She was born July 12, 1924, on a farm in Lafayette Township, Bremer County, daughter of Clarence and Ruth Keller Montgomery. She married Robert J. Baumgartner in Waterloo. He died June 4, 1990.
She graduated from Waverly High School in 1942. The couple lived in Waverly, where she was a bookkeeper for A.J. Lloyd in the service station and lunch business. They then moved to Waterloo where she worked at Waterloo Industries.
After moving back to Waverly in 1947, she worked for the Infelt Variety Store of 25 years.
She was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church in Waverly.
Survived by: a son, Robert S. (Judi Schneider) of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Roger (Crystal) Baumgartner, Norma (Don) Weathermon, Ethel Baumgartner, Carolyn (Bob) Burton and Dixie Burk, all of Waterloo; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn (Warren) Nott of Charles City.
Preceded in death by: her parents; a son in infancy; and a brother, Eldon Montgomery.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Heritage United Methodist Church, with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, both in Waverly. Public visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly. ~ The Courrier Newspaper, Waverly, Iowa 11 Jan 2009.
