In Centerville, at his residence, August 12th, 1883, Jacob Williams.
Father Williams was born in Pa., Aug. 18th, 1802. He was married in 1826 to Eliza Bowers, with whom he has lived more than 57 years, and all these years have been years of uninterrupted union and love, growing more tender and beautiful down to the close. Father Williams resided in this place for twenty-two years. His life in the community has been unobtrusive but such as to command the respect of all that knew him. He leaves to follow after him his aged companion and six children, three sons and three daughters, all having united with the church to which he belonged, and are esteemed and respected in the communities in which they reside. For nearly half a century Father Williams has been an earnest and joyful christian, often at home and in the church, giving rapturous expressions of that joy. When death came he was ready. Thought his mind failed him and death seemed to tarry, yet no murmur fell from his lips. Prayer and praise passed his being and thus ended a life of remarkable purity. "Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God." May he who tempers the wind to the shorn lamb bear through the few remaining years left to his afflicted and bereaved companion her cares and sorrows. My the blessing of God be upon all the children. Pastor.
