A Distressing Calamity

On last Saturday Mrs. Samuel Motto of Brazil Station, left her two children, the oldest a little girl of three years, the other a babe, in the house together, while she ran out for a few minutes to a neighbor's house. In a short time the screams of the children were heard, and Mrs. M. hurried back to the house to find the little girl's clothes on fire and her body burned in a shocking manner. The child lived about four hours, suffering the most intense agony, when death relieved her of her suffering. The little unfortunate was buried in our city cemetery on Sunday last.
