The many friends of Wm. Putnam will be pained to learn of his death which occurred at Corning, Adams county, this state, Apri 15th, where he has resided for several years. His death was caused by consumption which has been working on him for the past year and a half. He was buried under the auspices of the I.O.O.F. of which he was an honored member having filled the highest offices of the Lodge of which he was a member. He was a member of Co. H. 8th Iowa cavalry where we first became acquainted with him and where he was noted for his inexhaustible fund of good nature which made him many friends. We are indebted to F. C. Melson, of Corning, for the particulars of the case.
