J. J. WALL, farmer, Sec. 18, P.O. Unionville; born in Rutherford Co., N.C. in 1831; his father removed to East Tennessee in 1833; at the age of 18, he went to St. Clair Co., Ill., where he taught school two years, and for three years attended the McKendry College at Lebanon, after which he went to Carrollton, Mo., where he was appointed County Surveyor, which office he held for five years, when in 1862, he enlisted in the 65th Mo. State Militia as Major; served one year and was mustered out in 1863. In 1864, he came to this county, where he now owns 210 acres of land, valued at $20 per acre. Married Miss Emmaretta Gibson in 1867; she was born in Floyd Co., Ind., in 1848. Formerly a Republican. Has held the office of County Surveyor for six year; Township Trustee. Members of the Christian Church.
