Mr. Chas. Cowles brought to this city yesterday, for re-interment, the remains of his mother, Mrs. Wm. J. Fleming, who died many years ago and was buried at Whitewater, Wis.

A lot in Oak Hill Cemetery was prepared for the final resting place of the remains of this excellent lady who is yet kindly remembered by the old settlers of Lansing.

Mrs. Maynard, a lady well known in this city many years ago, sister of the former Mrs. Cowles, Charley's mother, advertises her business, that of purchasing agent, in our paper. Lansing ladies desiring any purchases made in Chicago can have them promptly attended to by Mrs. Maynard.

The remains of Mrs. Sarah Cowles (afterwards Mrs. W.J. Flemming) who died at Whitewater, Wis., in 1860, of consumption, were brought to this place, on Tuesday, by her son, Mr. C.W. Cowles, of McGregor, who caused the body to be interred in the family burial place in the new cemetery.

The remains of Mr. Cowles' father were removed from the old cemetery to the new grounds last spring, and now husband and wife rest side by side in that peaceful spot. Both were among the earliest settlers in this section, and remembered with much respect by all who knew them.
