We are called upon to chronicle the death of another good woman. Mrs. Levi Boardman, who was called to her eternal award about 5:30 Friday afternoon July 27th after a week's illness with appoplexys [sic] she having been in failing health the past three years. Everything that medical skill and loving care could do was done to stay the hand of death but to no avail.

Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Wachter and was born in Crawford county, Wisconsin, April 5, 1863. She was united in marriage to Levi Boardman at Prairie du Chien, Wis., Oct. 4, 1881.

To this union were born nine children, all of whom survive and were present at the funeral, namely, Douglas, Louis, Mrs. B.M. Williams, Mrs. Joe Hawes and Julius of Harpers Ferry, Carl of Mishawaka, Ind., Heimer of Lynxville, Wis., Mrs. Jesse Mahn* of Heitmans, and Phil Gavin* of Dubuque.

She is also survived by her husband, three sisters, Mrs. Michael McCormick, Mrs. Ellis Angell and Mrs. Ellen Wirth [sic - Worth], and three brothers, Frank, Jim and Anton Wachter.

Mrs. Boardman was a loving wife, a fond mother, a kind neighbor and will be sadly missed not only by her family but also by friends and neighbors as well. She was a member of Riverside Camp No. 1521 R.N.A. of Lansing, several members of that camp coming down Sunday to pay their last respects.

The funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Ann's Church, Harpers Ferry, Monday morning, July 30th, at 9 o'clock. Rev. Father Nolan officiated and preached a most eloquent and consoling sermon, burial at the Spaulding cemetery. Her five sons and grandson, Roy Boardman, acted as pall bearers.

Out of town relatives the funeral were Mrs. Ellis, son Arthur and daughters Edna and Sylvia and Alice Corneluson, Clear Lake, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. George Boardman and Mrs. Lillian Cahalan of Prairie du Chien, Wis.

May her soul rest in peace.

Phil Gavin is her son-in-law. His wife Adeline (my grandma) was Mary Anne's daughter. Mrs.Jesse Mahn in obit should be Mohn.
